Crows, oranges and a jet lag on Shikoku Island, Japan

Large-billed Crows Corvus macrorhynchos and Eastern Carrion Crows Corvus corone orientalis near their massive roost in Matsuyama, a few hundred meters from our apartment.

Matsuyama

Oyster culture, in order to grow pearls, at the west coast of Shikoku Island

Black-eared Kite Milvus lineatus at the coast

Unknown spider female, with probably a much smaller male above it.

Picking Mikan (Mandarin Oranges) near the west coast of the island. Very tasty!

If I’m correct this is the larvae of a Japanese Rhinoceros Beetle Allomyrina dichotoma, which are farmed at the site. It will eventually be sold as a pet in department stores.
